Entrance to the films screenings – at least 1 ct
We invite you to an early preview of the Polish documentary film “Mine Is Different“, followed by a discussion about experiences and activisms of those close to LGBT* people.
What does it mean to realize that your child is LGBT*, how to accept it and talk about it publicly? How varying and similar are the experiences and activisms of families of LGBT* people in different countries? How to encourage other parents of LGBT* children to come out and join community action? How does the parent-child relationship change once parents embrace activism? These are some of the issues to be discussed during the event.
Joining the discussion are Judy and Dennis Shepard (USA), the parents of Matthew Shepard whose violent death in 1996 inspired anti-hate crime legislation in the US; Angela Mazzaccoli of AGEDO, an association of parents, relatives and friends of LGBT* people (Italy); and mothers from the Lithuanian support and information group for parents of LGBT* children. The discussion will be moderated by Dominykas Vaitiekūnas and Rūta Ruolytė-Verschoore, members of the “Išgirsti” platform. The event will be conducted in English and Lithuanian with translation.
