Army of Lovers or Revolt of Perverts

The personal diary-style documentary, mainly shot during Rosa von Praunheim’s sojourn in San Francisco, chronicles the rise of gay activism in the United States between 1972 and 1978. Exploring the period in the aftermath of the Stonewall riots and before the arrival of the AIDS epidemic, the documentary explores, among other themes, how the initial unity of the post-Stonewall era splintered into numerous factions.
