This year, “Kreivės” is joining forces with the theater festival “Sirenos”, which will take place from September 25 to October 10, and invites you to the readings of Dino Pešut’s play “Air Raid” (in Lithuanian). After the play, the microphone will be passed on to you, so get your favorite queer text ready (register to read).
The doors open at 6.45 PM, we start at 7.15 PM. The entrance is free.
“Air Raid” explores themes of war, queer love, and creativity, as well as the inevitable devaluation of these terms. The play vividly depicts the consequences of major political upheavals and wars on the generation growing up at that time (the author grew up during the Yugoslav Wars) and the (in)compatibility of Eastern European and queer identities. The work can be understood as a kind of coming-of-age story for an entire generation, but at the same time, it is a romantic story of two creators and a look at us, trying to be citizens of the world and find love for ourselves and others, even though we do not yet know what it means to be free.
Dino Pešut is a renowned Croatian playwright, writer, and poet whose novel “Daddy Issues” has been translated into many languages.
Director: Augustas Gornatkevičius. Actors: Vilma Raubaitė, Gediminas Rimeika, Jonas Viršilas.
The open mic is hosted by Alexandra Bondarev.
